Straight answers.
The questions people actually ask before they commit — and the ones their buddies ask after.
Can't I just uninstall it?
Changing or removing a commitment is deliberately difficult. Protection runs on a supported Mac and Breakaway reports when it needs attention; real exceptions go through your buddy. That friction turns a 2am impulse into a conversation.
What exactly does my buddy see?
Signals only: your clear-day streak, requests for access, and a heads-up after a hard moment — plus whether your Mac has gone quiet. Never your browsing, never a list of the sites you visited.
What happens when I hit a blocked site?
A pause, not a scolding: how many days you've been clear, the reasons you wrote down on a better day, and a breath. If you keep pushing, your buddy gets a quiet heads-up.
What if my buddy says no?
Then it stays locked. That's the arrangement working, not failing — you chose someone whose no you'd respect. A quiet no is a real kindness.
What if I lose touch with my buddy?
Add more than one trusted partner — two or more means losing touch with one person can't lock you out of your own commitments forever.
What if I slip anyway?
You log it, the streak resets, and that's it — no lecture, no penalty box. The clear-days grid keeps the bigger picture honest: one bad night sits inside weeks of good ones.
I sometimes need real access — withdrawals, closing accounts.
Ask from the app. Your buddy can approve a timed window — fifteen minutes or an hour — that closes itself when time's up. Nothing for either of you to remember.
Does it work on my phone?
Breakaway runs on macOS today. The iPhone app is in progress, built on Apple's Screen Time stack so the lock is just as real there.
